The Norrom Aquarium is made from crystal clear acrylic glass which has been fabricated under a brand new and proprietary casting process. The most popular aquarium brands now use acrylic for its many benefits over conventional glass. Here are the reasons we decided to use this amazing material for the Norrom Aquarium.
Worried about scratching?
As conventional glass is much denser and more brittle than acrylic glass, it is more difficult to scratch, although once scratched it is difficult to fix. Acrylic glass is the opposite; whereas it is easier to scratch through misuse, it is also easier to fix.
If your aquarium becomes scratched or develops a slightly frosted look over time, perhaps because of the use of abrasive cleaning materials, these can easy be polished out. We recommend using the BiOrb Scratch Remover and Polish, which is available on Amazon for less than £5.
To ensure that acrylic glass does not become scratched, it is important to only use an ‘acrylic friendly’ algae pad to remove algae and clean the inside of your acrylic glass. These are available in most aquatic retailers and online. We recommend either BiOrb Cleaning Pads or the API Algae Pad for Acrylic Aquariums.
The outside of the acrylic glass should be gently cleaned only with soft materials, such as a microfibre cloth, and chemicals should never be used on any part of the aquarium.
